Kennedy was recently named as a finalist winner in a national science contest, called The Kid's Science Challenge. He had to design a toy, game or experiment that enhances the life of a pet or zoo animal and demonstrates its particular intelligence. For the second year in a row, a LACES student has been selected to receive the Warren Christopher Schoalrship Award. Congratulations to Bernice Estrada.

LACES has 22 students who qualified for the National Merit Scholarship Program. Nationwide, only 50,000 students qualified out of 1.5 million students.

Winston is a 2012 winner of the Sally Bell Mentor Group Essay Contest and will be honored and an awards ceremony on April 21st with special guest Councilman Bernard Parks. Click for more details.

Grace Lutheran Church Troop 108 Eagle Scout candidate and Los Angeles Center for Enriched Studies (LACES) high school senior, Ngozi C. Taylor is organizing a community health drive that will be held March24, 2012, from 10:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M.

Our middle school MESA team had two impressive wins. Kevin Benevante won 3rd place for his mousetrap car design and Fred Kafka won 1st place for his popsicle stick bridge. Fred will advance to the regional MESA competition at CSULB on April 14th.

Congratulations to senior, Ari Simon, LACES Unicorns' varsity goalie. He will be joining soccer athletes from across the country to represent the United States at the 12th Annual Pan American Maccabi Games in Sao Paulo, Brazil during Winter Break. Good luck!
