U-House Pride

The Boys Basketball team made it to the City Finals. They lost to View Park 73-62.

The HS Science Bowl team advanced to round 11 in the 16 round DWP Science Bowl Competition. This is best showing of any LACES HS Science Bowl team!

Congratulations to Dahlia Peterson and Lilac Peterson. Dahlia has won a "gold key" (only 65 nationally) and Lilac received a "silver key" (111 nationally). Dahlia is in the running to win the overall competition. Dahlia and Lilac have been participating in this competition for five years. Throughout the years, Lilac has won one Gold Key, three Silver Keys and one Honorable Mention. Dahlia has won two Golds, two Silvers and one Honorable Mention.
A big thank you goes out to Dr. Draper for working with these two on their essays. Dr. Draper said "I have never had such determined students as Lilac and Dahlia Peterson."

Congratulations to Alan Grusky who qualified for the President's Volunteer Service Award. This award recognizes Americans of all ages who have volunteered significant amounts of their time to serve their communities and their country.

Mackenzie Starr recently won a Rotary Club Scholarship in an Arts competition held in Playa del Rey. The scholarships were funded by the Westchester Rotary Club. Way to go Mackenzie!

MIT student Hayoon Chung, recognized math teacher Frank Wilson as a teacher who has been especially influential in her development.
The Constitutional Rights Foundation recognized history teacher Raymond Robinson's commitment to educating the youth of Los Angeles.

Stefano Rumi, 11th grader and president of the Class of 2014, was selected as an alternate to the US Senate Youth Program. The United States Senate Youth Program, established in 1962 by U.S. Senate Resolution, is a unique educational experience for outstanding high school students interested in pursuing careers in public service.

Riki Robinson has been selected to represent LACES and our community in the ADL's National Youth Leadership Mission to Washington, D.C. ADL developed the Youth Mission in 1998, which will bring together a diverse group of 90 high school juniors from throughout the U.S. as a means of addressing and moving beyond some of the tensions among America's diverse racial, religious and ethnic communities.

Annabelle had her 1st IEL horse show this year representing LACES. She took home a 3rd, 6th and 9th. She is pictured with her 6th place Ribbon and Jackson.
